В Караганде прошел тренинг для специалистов вирусологических лабораторий 12.07.2018

Twenty-five specialists from the virological laboratories of the National Center for Expertise were trained in the laboratory diagnosis of enterovirus infections.

The central office of the Republican State Enterprise on the REM “National Center of Expertise” together with the Department for the Development of Laboratory Services of the Committee for Public Health of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan conducted a training on the topic “Laboratory monitoring of enteroviruses in the environment and their laboratory diagnostics”.

During the training, laboratory specialists received a master class on the correct collection, packaging, and transportation of biological material, and also received practical training on the principles of laboratory diagnosis of enterovirus infections.

According to experts, in recent years there has been a clear trend of activation of enterovirus infection in the world, as evidenced by epidemiological rises in incidence and outbreaks that are constantly recorded in different countries.

Over the past 4 years, there has been an unfavorable situation in the incidence of EVI in the People's Republic of China and the countries of the Asia-Pacific region. Mass migrations of people, widespread tourism lead to the spread of new strains of enteroviruses in communities, to which people have no immunity.

The urgency of the problem of enterovirus infection (EVI) and its epidemiological significance are determined by high contagiousness (easily transmitted from a patient, as well as from a healthy carrier), wide geographical distribution, the occurrence of epidemic rises and outbreaks, the resistance of the virus in the external environment, virus carriers, and the lack of means of specific prevention , a variety of EVI pathogens that cause polymorphic clinical manifestations, including those with severe consequences, up to death.
