Excess of nitrates found in apricots and watermelons on the market in Karaganda

Employees of the Public Health Protection Directorate identified watermelons, apricots, plums and lemons with excess nitrates in one market in Karaganda, Today.kz reports.

As reported in the food department of the Public Health Administration of Oktyabrsky district of Karaganda, the action "Choose a safe product" was carried out not only as part of the audit, but exclusively for the population.

"Buyers, if they wanted, approached us and gave us an analysis of the products they bought on the Temirlan market. In total, 55 samples of products were examined; in particular, the excess of saltpeter in watermelons, apricots, plums and lemons was detected. In the watermelon was 62 milligrams per kilogram and 72 milligrams per kilogram at a rate of 60. In an apricot, 80 milligrams per kilogram at a rate of 60. In a plum, 69, 72, 77 milligrams per kilogram at a rate of 60. In a lemon, 63 milligrams per kilogram at a rate of 60 per cent, reported food department of management.

A letter was sent to the director of the Temirlan market with a recommendation to stop selling food products that do not meet the quality and safety requirements for society.

The action was organized by specialists of the public health protection department of Oktyabrsky district of Karaganda together with specialists of the branch of the national state enterprise "National Center of Expertise".
